Do you face these challenges?

Everyday problems and challenges you face in your business could be caused by limited reading, maths or communication skills.

Reality check.

It might appear as though employees aren’t capable or aren’t paying enough attention to the job. Yet the underlying cause of many business challenges may, in fact, be difficulties with reading, maths or communication skills.

Does your business deal with the following challenges?

Mistakes
Poor paperwork
Does work frequently have to be re-done? Do basic errors hold up the workflow? Are forms and reports completed incorrectly? Or left unfinished?
Excessive wastage
Limited feedback from employees
Are your wastage levels higher than they should be? Do incentives or penalties to reduce wastage make little or no difference? Are employees reluctant to make comments and suggestions? Do they seem uncomfortable giving feedback?
Customer complaints
Accidents
Do you have frequent customer complaints about incomplete orders? Do customers complain about not receiving a response or getting wrong information? Does your business have more workplace accidents – or near accidents – than you should, even though you provide health and safety training?
Resistance to new initiatives
Do your employees come up with all kinds of reasons to put off starting a new initiative? Or do they resist making changes?

If yes - take action

If you’ve recognised one or more of these issues in your workplace, it’s highly likely that some, or even many, of your employees have difficulty with reading, maths or communication.

This will be affecting your day-to-day operations. To identify where it’s affecting your business and how much of a skills gap you might have, use our skills gap indicator or take the test.
