Employer Champions Forum

The Skills Highway Employer Champions Forum promotes the importance of workplace literacy training to the New Zealand business community and wider public. The forum is made up of influential business executives whose companies demonstrate best practice through training programmes to upskill their employees.

What is the role of employer champions?

Forum members work with government agencies and business to encourage and recognise workplace literacy upskilling initiatives throughout the country.

Employer champions lead by example. They:

  • strive to run their own successful literacy training programmes and increase their effectiveness
  • mentor other businesses looking to include workplace literacy training in their training and development strategies
  • promote best practice via the Skills Highway Award
  • host quarterly forum meetings to share experience and discuss the development of workplace literacy training
  • provide comment and advice on initiatives to help raise awareness of workplace literacy.
