Manukau Institute of Technology

Manukau Institute of Technology is New Zealand's highest performing polytechnic and have been delivering quality tertiary level education for nearly 40 years. Although our main campus is in Manukau City we also provide a wide range of courses at satellite sites around the Auckland region.

By building and maintaining strong links with industry and local communities we aim to produce graduates that are equipped with the skills employers are looking for, right now. In fact we are well recognised as one of New Zealand's leading providers of vocational learning and workplace development.

Working with the Customised Learning and Development team within Manukau Institute of Technology means that you are working with an experienced team who deliver programmes accessing the following funds:

  • Intensive Literacy and Numeracy for Adults
  • Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Programmes  (TEO and employer led)
  • Targeted ESOL

We can also link learners to courses where they can access the Refugee English Fund and support those with English for Migrant funds, where applicable.

ILNF and Targeted ESOL
Our friendly classes are for anyone wishing to improve their language, literacy and numeracy skills to live, study and work in New Zealand. The teaching team is a group of highly qualified and experienced tutors, who are able to adjust courses to meet the specific needs of students in the class.

Classes run at Manukau Institute of Technology in Otara and at a variety of community locations around South Auckland. Hours suit those with children and classes start throughout the year. We also work with organisations to deliver programmes to their clients on site.

We pride ourselves in our ability to customise classes to meet the unique needs that each group brings.

Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Programmes  (TEO and employer led)
As part of the NZ Government funding initiative targeting Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) in the workplace, we are pleased to be able to work with employers to customise and deliver a fee free Workplace Communication Programme at your place of work. These may be TEO or Employer led.

At MIT, we work closely with you during every step of the process to ensure the programme provides you the maximum benefit within your environment. We have experience in working within a variety of industries and in working with those workplaces to develop LLN awareness and build sustainability for the future.
