One in four New Zealanders have literacy skills below the level that’s needed to make them successful in their work. One in ten struggle with the basics. This is a real problem - not one that can be solved by the wringing of hands and expecting others to do something. It’s time for employers, government agencies and community groups to work together so we stop holding our people back and stop holding New Zealand back.
